Tours & Activities in Bergamo
What about discovering the history of this city while having fun with a lot of curiosities and tasting the typical food ? That's exactly the goal of this tour!
We are going to see the most famous monuments of Città Alta such as: Piazza Vecchia, Santa Maria Maggiore, Palazzo della Ragione and more.
And what about the curiosities? But most important: how do the real "casoncelli" and the real polenta actually taste?
Come with me and discover my hometown, Bergamo!
I have lived in the upper city, the historic center of the city of Bergamo, since I was born. I live in a 16th century tower house, built on the remains of a medieval tower , which has been in our family for many generations. I love my city and especially the historic center and its villages. Growing up there, I discovered its uniqueness and the ancient stories that are still alive and present in it, albeit hidden within the walls of the buildings and in the side streets. Magical little corners of the ancient city that are too often overlooked by those who visit it. Even our tower house preserves many of them, but it is only possible to discover them by entering with me. I am always happy to be able to share our story with anyone who has the curiosity to know it. We will start from the entrance of the tower house on the ground floor and climb the stairs of the sundial tower, thus gradually discovering the evolution of the building over the centuries, but also of the city of Bergamo itself. We will enter the top two floors furnished with furniture and furnishings from the various eras that have characterized the lives of those who have lived there. You will thus arrive at the top of the tower but be careful... there is no lift. You will feel like you are reliving the times that were in the first person, surrounded by objects and family heirlooms, an experience that will make you love our beautiful city and its most secret peculiarities even more. Finally, from the windows on the top floor, you will enjoy the view that sweeps over the roofs, the lower town below and the profile of the Orobic Pre-Alps. From December 8th until Epiphany it will also be possible to see our large nativity scene which, every year as per family tradition, we prepare with ancient statues from the Veneto, Bergamo, Naples and many others . For foreign visitors I will possibly use the simultaneous voice translator via my mobile phone. As a tribute to all participants, the Hospitality map of the Upper Town.
