Chiangmai is famous for its beautiful ancient temples though there is much more to see and do mountainous landscape around the city provides a lot of wonderful natural attractions.
Join me on the tour so I can share with you many of the wonderful places in Chiangmai that tourists aren't always aware of. I welcome travellers that enjoy learning about Thai culture and have lots of fun in doing so.
On the itinerary, we will visit some of the main highlights of the city, such as:
- Wat Ket Karaam
This temple is also known as Wat Sa Ket. Construction took place in the year 1428 during the reign of Phraya (King) Samfangkaen the 8th ruler of the Mantra Dynasty. There is also a Wat Ket Museum which hopefully will be open the day that we tour.
(Please note that knees and shoulders must be covered when visiting Temples)
- Timber Thatched Houses along the Mae Ping River
Chiang Mai was founded along the 353-mile Mae Ping River in the late 13th century. Some residents still live in wooden, Thai-style homes with thatched roofs along the riverbank just as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago. You can frequently see the occupants casting their fishing nets and washing their clothes in the river. We will walk by and observe this way of life.
- Warorot and Ton Lamyai Market's
We will cross the Chansom Memorial Foot Bridge (Khun Kaek) to visit Warorot Market (Kad Luang) which translates as “big market”. This is the most popular market in the city. This market is a historical landmark known for its variety of speciality Chiang Mai food and products. If you're after souvenirs then this is the place to shop. Because they are located next to each other we will also pay a visit to Ton Lamyai Market.
During the tour, I will be happy to answer all your questions. I will be happy to share with you my culture and memories, as well as the best-kept secrets that some locals don't even know.
