Please note: The 11 a.m. tour is approximately 3 hours duration and includes a short pub break midway through for use of toilet facilities and to grab a quick drink if desired.
The afternoon tour is of shorter duration, approximately 2 hours and without a break.
Groups of 7 or more will be required to commit to a minimum fee when booking - please note, this is a platform-wide minimum fee and not the full amount due. We apply a fixed upfront fee of €15 per person for groups of 7 or more, regardless of age, on arrival to the meeting point. Please respect this Group policy to avoid our rejecting your participation. It was a Dublin of battles and shootouts. Raids and last-minute escapes. Spies and informers. Rebels and assassins. A city of heroes, villains, and enough trench coats and fedoras to outfit the cast of a Hollywood noir. It was a city which defied an empire.

On this tour, you will trace the path of the Irish revolutionary period through Dublin's streets. From the doomed valour of the 1916 Rising, to the espionage and intrigues of the War of Independence, and to the tragedy of the Civil War.

As well as these sites, there will also be several stops at locations where less well-known events of the revolutionary period took place. Dublin has a fascinating history of both physical and social revolution, with amazing stories written along its streets. Starting with the pursuit of Irish independence, we look at the diverse faces of revolution in Ireland by also highlighting some of the female, LGBTQ+ and working class revolutionaries who has been so influential in the creation of the modern city. This tour bases itself off the stories and experiences of ordinary Dubliners from throughout history, giving you a unique insight into the modern city.
This tour tells a story of rebellions, struggles, prosperity and modernity. My focus here is what I feel makes free tours great – smaller, more relaxed groups and a conversational tour. You can also expect plenty of recommendation for destinations, food and drinks in the city too.
