Poland was once a home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the world and a center of this thriving civilization was Kraków. Its historical Jewish district is a jewel of Jewish art and architecture. A place where 7 ancient synagogues, that amazingly survived the destruction of World War II and the Holocaust, stand witness to the test of time.
During our tour we will discover the historical context of the local Jewish community, talk about the death and destruction of World War II but also witness the amazing Jewish culture’s revival in contemporary Kraków. Present-day Kazimierz, a historical Jewish district is also a cultural heart of the modern city of Kraków and home to a small but vibrant Jewish community. Jews who in the Middle Ages were persecuted in Western Europe began to settle in Kazimierz, soon this city became a place of Jewish prosperity. It is here that synagogues can be found, picturesque streets in which the hustle and bustle of Jewish life prevailed before the holocaust of World War II.

Nowa Huta means the "New Steelworks." It was a remarkable experiment in urban planning and a symbol of Poland's post-World War II industrial growth. Built during the communist era, this district was envisioned as a model city that would reflect the principles of socialism (not to mention its huge role in Joseph Stalin’s propaganda and totalitarian dictatorship). The tour takes you through the story of Nowa Huta's creation, its significance during communism, and its transformation into a thriving neighborhood, which today, surprisingly, has so much to offer.

World War II was a moment of the greatest trials and tribulations, a time that awoke the best in some and the worst in others. This was a time of courage and sacrifice, fear and treason. It was a moment in history when even the smallest decision could bear grave consequences.
Walk with us through the streets of Kraków, hear about the most brutal officers of the Nazi machine, and learn about the deadly tools they used to repress their victims. Hear about ordinary people facing the Nazi regime and rising up to become silent heroes. Let us surprise you with the most spectacular resistance actions taken by individuals and organised groups.
