Things to Do in Jerez de la Frontera
The Alcázar of Jerez is a site of great historical interest. And I'm not just saying that because I worked there as a guide; it is reflected in being the most characteristic and visited monument in the city. From the Almohad period (12th-13th centuries), inside we can admire the only mosque currently preserved in the city, some Arab baths, mills, towers, and even a palace from the 17th-19th centuries.
Starting at the Alcázar gate, a walk around its surroundings will lead us to discover some of the most outstanding elements of the historic center of Jerez: the Church of San Miguel, Plaza del Arenal, Calle Larga, the Jewish quarter, the palaces of Plaza Rivero... Each of these places holds a piece of the history of the city, of Andalusia, and of Spain without having to go far. Finally, we will reach the Cathedral of Jerez, a superb building with remarkable artistic elements both on its exterior and interior.
If you are looking for a tour of Jerez and its history away from large groups, this is your guide

Jerez is world-renowned for its wines, horses, and flamenco, an intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.
However, our city also boasts another less well-known but equally important historical and artistic heritage , part of which I invite you to discover. On a private and personalized tour, with a maximum of five people per visit: the great Andalusian medina of Šarīš (شريش) from the 8th to the 13th centuries , with winding and narrow streets among which were located its more than twenty mosques, and which was repopulated by Christians and a hundred Jewish families from 1267.
We will begin our tour by entering the old Muslim city through the site of one of the main gates of the medina: the Seville Gate, opposite the monumental cloister of the Santo Domingo convent , which contains remains that may date back to Jerez's Andalusian period. From there, we will explore the beautiful and, in some cases, mysterious alleyways that lead to the Jewish quarter and the six neighborhoods of the old town: San Marcos, San Juan, San Lucas, San Mateo, San Salvador, and San Dionisio.
Our tour will end in the Plaza del Arenal , a space that housed a huge maqbara or cemetery from the Andalusian period, the larger of the two it had, which we will reach through the beautiful Pescadería street , delimited by the wall and very close to the remains that are still preserved of the old Puerta del Real or del Marmolejo.
I'll be waiting for you!
