I am an official tour guide in Fez, and I will do my best to leave a great impression and create lasting memories of our tour in the largest maze in the world – the city of Fez.
Augustine said, “The world is a book and he who does not travel reads only a page.” This quote suggests that each of us should travel and see the outside world and not just our own.
As a result, we will discover this book from 1200 years back in history. My name is Samir Michelle and I am a professional tour guide licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, I have the best management of travel plans. But now let's start with an overview. During this tour, we wanted to discover together famous historical sites of Fes such as:
1- Bab Boujloud ; The old Bab Bou Jeloud gate was a simple, humble gate, possibly dating back to the 12th century.
2- Water Clock [Dar Magana]
3- Mederssa Bou Nania The largest madrassa in the city, Madrassa Bou Inania is a theological institute founded by Sultan Abu Hassan Marini (1331-1351) of the Marinid dynasty.
4- The oldest tannery in Sidi Moussa dates back to the early 12th century.
5- Nejjarine Museum of Wood Arts and Crafts in Fes from outside or with entrance fee
6- Islamic School Madrassa Attarine
7- Al-Karaouine (or Al Quaraouiyine) is the oldest mosque – center – school – university that exists and functions continuously in the world!
8- Second Moulay Idriss; the founder of Medina.
9- The local street food; We will try some local food.
10- Berber pharmacy where spices and argan oil are produced.
We will start the tour from the famous gate bab boujloud and the madrasa bouinania and then we will keep walking down to visit the tanery and Idriss the second moselium and the quaraouine University and we will keep walking to the famous square of safarine and fes River connected to the dying street and visiting the different kinds of moroccan handicrafts cooperatives. Showing you an examples of public oven , hammam and fountain, and coranic schools because they are part of the classical educational system in morocco. The coranic schools used as a primary school and the madrasas used as a secondary schools and then the quaraouine University and by the coming of the French authorities in the colonial period they brought with them the modern educational system and that's what we are using right now. Many thanks.
