This tour starts by the western gates of the Old City and it's a combined overview of the most important landmarks (as well as side streets), the overall history and culture of Dubrovnik.
First learn how the city, also known as The Pearl of Adriatic, came to be, how it grew and became one of the largest walled cities in Europe.
Then immerse yourselves into the turbulent history of the city and Croatia, and you will soon realize why Winston Churchill once said that the peoples of the Balkans produce more history than they can consume.
The first part of the tour includes a bit more of general history but also main sites and landmarks, the second half includes less general history and more main sites, monuments, lovely side streets and details.

- prefer "fun" facts and casual chitchat over deeper understanding of the city's history
- don't understand English well
- think this tour is a 2h "Blitzkrieg" of all sites/monuments without any history telling and explanation (you can do that on your own).

We will walk through the streets from one entrance to the city to other to see the history of the city with legends and hear about the way of life in the city. I will show you old family and city pictures so you can experience the history of the city.

The meeting point is on the East side of the Old Town, Ploče Gate of Dubrovnik.
1. Stop is at Ploče Gate (Gate), on the Square of Arms in front of the fortress Revelin.
2. Stop in front of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary .
3. Stop in front of the Rector's Palace .
4. Stop at Plaza Major Luza - Sponza Palace - former Customs Palace from the 15th century, city bell tower with clock and Church of St. Blaise, patron saint of the city,
5. The next stop is Široka Street , the widest street in the city, so on that street we will see photographs of the destruction of Dubrovnik, during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991.
6. Walking along the street "od Puča " we reach the hidden place where the orphanage was located, one of the oldest in Europe.
7. We continue to the front of the Onofrio Grande fountain and the Franciscan Church and Monastery where one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe is located and here will be the end of our tour.
The duration of the tour is 2 hours from one entrance to the city to another and can be too long for small children is full of stories.
