Things to Do in Limassol
Have a few hours to spare in Limassol? Join me for a walking tour of the highlights of the city. I will give you the historical context but also we will delve into a variety of other subjects such as the economy of Cyprus, social changes in the last few years, current trends, all of which will give you an accurate and balanced view of life in Limassol and Cyprus in general.
We start at St Catherine's Church and will immediately cross over to get spectacular views of the coastline of Limassol. We will then walk the seafront promenade to arrive at the Old Port and then the Marina. Following on we will leave the seafront and come inland to visit the heart of the city, the castle, Turkish quarter and the cathedral. We finish amongst the shops, cafes and restaurants of the main street of the Old Town.
I look forward to you joining me for an informative and engaging tour of Limassol.
Solo Travelers
I am happy to accept bookings from solo Travelers, however it may not be economically viable to offer the tour if you are the only person booked on the tour. If you are a solo traveler please contact me via a message on the app a couple of days before the tour to discuss the options , check if it's possible to book for an alternative date etc.
Please note:
I will contact you a couple of days before the tour is scheduled to reconfirm that you still will be attending. Should something happen in the interim and you no longer wish to attend, I would kindly request that you cancel the booking or alternatively contact me to rearrange another time or date.
The tour involves walking and standing in the sun for short periods, though I will try to find shady spots where possible. Therefore between May and September I recommend shoulders and head covering, sun screen and water
Thank you
What if the streets you walk every day were hiding a story?
Not a loud one. A quiet, almost invisible story – layered beneath the modern noise, waiting for someone to notice.
For almost a year now, I’ve been walking the old town of Limassol with guests and showing them a city that’s no longer there – but somehow still breathes in its walls, balconies and back alleys. This is not your typical tour. It’s more like a time-travel walk with a friend, someone who loves the city and wants you to feel its soul.
We’ll meet at Heroes' Square, and slowly make our way through the heart of the old town, unlocking stories as we go. Together, we’ll imagine:
- 📜 What was here 100 years ago?
- 🎥 Which cinema became the third ever to open on the island?
- 🧨 How did the local authorities collect money to build the main monument, and what tricks did they use?
- 📮 What did people gossip about, and what were their “social networks” before Facebook?
- 💣 Why is there a World War II bomb resting quietly in the middle of the city?
You’ll also get to see:
- 🏠 A reminder of the old Turkish quarter
- 🗺️ A rare historical map showing Limassol as a tiny town
- 🖼️ Archival photos that make everything suddenly real
We’ll end our walk near Poe Bar, the perfect spot to grab a drink and let the past settle in.
