Don't miss the alternative side of Copenhagen. Join our Christianshavn tour to stroll through winding cobblestone streets of one of the oldest neighborhoods in Copenhagen, past unique churches, and end up near the Free City of Christiania. The man made island of Christianshavn is one of the most picturesque places in Copenhagen with a beautiful canal, fine dining and the famous community of the Freetown of Christiania. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour starts to ensure the tour can start on time. **Please note we do not take our groups inside the Freetown of Christiania. No tour companies are permitted to take groups for a tour of the community**

You have just arrived and want an overview of Copenhagen and you want to get insider tips for the city.
On this tour, you will see well-known places and learn to navigate the city with walking, trains, buses, and Metro.
We will walk and learn about the central train station, the Tivoli (only stop and see from the outside!), the townhall, Christianborg (parliament), Strøget (shopping streets), Nyhavn and we will briefly stop and look at design and architecture of old and new buildings while we walk. Likewise you will hear about Danish food, in particular Smørrebrød. And you will hear about most famous writers from Denmark.
You will also be presented to museums and well-known entertainment possibilities in Copenhagen.

This tour starts at Generator Hostel at the reception. We will walk to the impressive Kongens Have or King's Garden, located in the center of the city. The Rosenborg Castle Garden, a Renaissance castle, is a popular tourist destination and houses an impressive collection of royal jewels and historical artifacts.
From Rosenborg, we will head towards Nyboder, a picturesque residential neighborhood with brightly colored houses. Built in the 17th century to house sailors.
Then, we'll head to Kastellet, an impressive 17th-century star fortress, located at the entrance to Copenhagen's harbour. This fortress is a fascinating historical place and offers a breathtaking view of the port and the city.
After Kastellet, we will continue to one of the most iconic sites in Copenhagen: the Little Mermaid statue. This iconic bronze statue sits in a beautiful seaside park and is a symbol of a city not to be missed.
We will continue our walk around the port and stop to listen to stories of merchants, the Royal Danish Navy, and different points along the harbor. We will finish at the Harbor which is a central location to visit other parts of the city.
