Ready to fall in love with Hurghada? Join me for an unforgettable walk through this Red Sea gem a city where local vibes meet seaside charm. Whether it’s your first time here or you’re back for more, this tour will show you Hurghada in a way you’ve never seen before through the eyes of a local!
Meeting Point:
We’ll kick things off near McDonald’s on Al Sheraton Street easy to find, and a perfect place to begin our journey (plus, who doesn’t know where McDonald’s is?).
Our Route:
1. Sheraton Road (The New Side):
We’ll start our stroll along New Sheraton Road a street where the local rhythm of life dances hand-in-hand with the tourist buzz. Expect colorful shops, warm smiles, and the hum of city life as we walk parallel to the beautiful Red Sea.
2. Shirry Street:
Next, we’ll head to Shirry Street, one of Hurghada’s oldest and most iconic streets. This pedestrian-friendly zone is buzzing with local energy from small coffee shops and fresh juice stalls to quirky souvenir stores and friendly street cats. You’ll really feel the heart of the city here!
3. Hurghada Marina Boulevard:
Here comes the highlight! The Marina is your go-to for dining with a view. The restaurants are top-notch, and when the sun sets over the Red Sea… well, let’s just say your camera is going to love it!
4. The Fish Market:
Time for a real local experience! We’ll swing by the Hurghada Fish Market, where the day’s catch is laid out in vibrant rows of color and scent. It’s loud, lively, and full of personality you’ll see everything from tiny sardines to giant groupers. A slice of real Egyptian daily life!
5. El Mina Mosque:
Just around the corner is the stunning El Mina Mosque. With its white marble domes, delicate carvings, and sea-facing view, it’s one of the most beautiful mosques in the city. A peaceful spot, perfect for a quiet moment (and a photo or two).
(Heads-up!)
We might take public transportation for part of the route — it’s super cheap (less than 10 cents), or you can hop in a private ride for about 1 Euro. Easy peasy!
6. El Dahar – The Old Town:
Now let’s step back in time. El Dahar is where old-school Hurghada comes to life: narrow streets, vibrant shops, and traditional markets. It’s a real taste of Egypt, far from the tourist crowds.
7. Coptic Cathedral of Saint Shenouda:
Don’t be fooled by the modest exterior — this cathedral is stunning inside! Think gorgeous stained-glass windows, beautifully painted ceilings, and peaceful vibes all around.
8. Bazaar Market:
Before we dive into the food, it’s shopping time! We’ll explore the Bazaar Market — a colorful maze of spices, souvenirs, handmade crafts, perfumes, and all things Egyptian. Bargaining is part of the fun, so get ready to haggle (don’t worry, I’ll help you out if needed)!
9. Koshary & Cane Juice – Time to Eat Like Egyptians! (Optional)
Now we eat! We’ll stop at Koshary El Tahrir for a big bowl of koshary — Egypt’s most beloved street food. It’s a mix of pasta, rice, lentils, crispy onions, and spicy tomato sauce. Sounds crazy, tastes amazing.
We’ll finish our adventure at El Dahar Square with a glass of fresh cane juice — the ultimate local refreshment to end the day right.
