If you are passionate about learning about the history of the capital of this land called El Salvador, walking through its streets with a local from the capital and also interacting with other travelers, then this tour is for you. We will meet in Plaza Gerardo Barrios in the heart of the city and we will learn about the history and curiosities of San Salvador.
What are we going to visit?
- Liberty Square (start of the tour)
- El Rosario Church (Admission $1 USD for nationals and $2 USD for foreigners)
- The National Palace (Admission $1 USD for nationals, $3 USD for Central Americans and resident foreigners and $5 USD for Foreigners)
- The Cathedral of San Salvador
- The Crypt of Monsignor Romero
- Central Market
- Finally you will have the opportunity to taste typical dishes of Salvadoran gastronomy.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED: Entrance fees to the national palace or El Rosario church.
CONSIDER:
- Wear comfortable shoes for a 2 hour 30 min walk
-Bring 1 liter of water or you can buy it in the surrounding stores
-Don't forget sunscreen and preferably wear a cap or hat
-Want to meet other travelers and the history of San Salvador
Visiting San Salvador nowadays is a must, after all of the changes we have had for the last 7 years we can assure you will find a very modern and fast growing city.
We will visit Parque Cuscatlan, church of ¨Sagrado Corazon¨, we will visit the Hospital area, walk through an university campus, taste the food and drinks of the central market, get to kilometer 0 where we will see the national palace, metropolitan catedral, public library, gerardo barrios plaza, morazan plaza and libertad plaza where we will be able to see the number one attraction in downtown San Salvador, the Rosario chuch ($2.00 entrance fee per person)
We will have a great tour, we will laugh and best of all we will make new friends.
PS: Please bring some sort of skirt if you bring shorts to cover your legs, so you can come in to some of the churches if you are a lady.

I have been a tour guide for six years, I love the Historic Center of San Salvador, because I grew up, live and work here since I was a teenager.

If you want to know the history and folklore I recommend the morning tour, if you want a tour that includes bars and restaurants I recommend the afternoon or night tours.
