Things to Do in Düsseldorf
The pearl of the Rhine!
Düsseldorf is a truly interesting city that offers a striking contrast between the old town (Altstadt) and the modern buildings (Medienhafen). If you're not sure where to start exploring this city, let me show you this beautiful place from the perspective of someone who knows and calls it home.
Our tour will delve into Düsseldorf's Old Town (Altstadt), where you can still find vestiges of the ancient walls that protected the city. Here, I'll show you a Düsseldorf you didn't expect: the city of romanticism , full of traditions and stories that will make you see Düsseldorf in a new way.
One of my favorite spots is the Rhine. From there, I'll clearly show you how this city has changed over the past few decades. The urban development is truly impressive, and my images will take you back to the Düsseldorf of centuries past.
My tour is more than just a tour of the city's tourist spots . It's a chance to experience and breathe Düsseldorf through the eyes of someone who loves the city . I won't just take you to the sights , but I'll also show you the true essence of the city I call home.
So, are we going for a walk?
During our free tour of Düsseldorf, we will explore the charms of the historic center and discover why this city is one of the most important in Germany. Despite being reduced to ashes after the bombings of World War II, Düsseldorf recovered and became a key economic engine for the country. Its historical heritage is impressive.
On our guided tour, we will walk through the Altstadt, the historic center, which is full of monuments with a lot of history, as well as a large number of breweries, restaurants, and pubs. In fact, it is known as the longest bar in the world.
Some of the highlights of the tour include the Königsallee, a shopping street famous for its international luxury stores, and the Triton Fountain, a cherished monument of the city. Additionally, modern art lovers can enjoy the Museum K20, which houses masterpieces by artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Richter, and Beuys.
Monument to the Elevation of the City: we will review one of the most important historical moments of Düsseldorf. This place commemorates the Battle of Worringen, as well as the sealing of the city's charters and the elevation of the parish church of St. Lambert.
Old Town Hall: presiding over the iconic Marktplatz, the Old Town Hall building is one of the most important in the city. We will be able to admire its Baroque-style facade, the statue of Wilhelm II, and the Clock Tower.
