This is the ideal and essential tour to understand the fascinating history of the city of Munich. We will tour the historic center for around 2,5 hours discovering and exploring the most popular places so that you can get a much broader view of Bavarian history and culture. Munich stands out for its beauty and beer history, here is the most famous beer festival in the world: the Oktoberfest.
But this city that has nine centuries of history hides many more curious facts and stories. Our guides have years of experience teaching Munich and are experts in making your trip an experience.

- Frauenkirche Cathedral
- Fünf Höfe
- Odeonsplatz
- Theatinerkirche
- Feldherrnhalle
- Viscardigasse
- Residenz
- Bavarian State Opera
- Maximilianstrasse
- Hofbräuhaus brewery and of course much more ...
You will leave Munich in love and wanting to return!
❗ Important information:

Join me for a fun and informative 2.5 hour walking tour around the wonderful old city of Munich. Along the way you will learn about the origins of the city, cool king's, local legends, Third Reich history and of course the Bavarian culture, traditions and beer!
I want you to learn but put emphasis on having a good time, so I teach history through telling engaging and fun stories. This is an interactive tour, so I will be asking you lot of questions. In my experience, the best tours are when everyone feels involved in the learning experience.
The tour includes a 15-minute break, which allows you to look inside the Hofbräuhaus and go to the toilet and get food/ drink. At the end of the tour you will get a list of great recommendations for restaurants and things to do.
Weather:
During colder months I will do my best to make sure the tour is mostly undercover, so that you are comfortable and during Summer I'll keep you in the shade.
Group size:
The average group size is 10 - 30 people throughout the year depending on the season and what events are happening in the city.
Although I do most of the tours myself, I do have a small team of guides who also work for me with similar guiding styles.
Important!:
The afternoon tour is a bit shorter at 2h20m.
The tour are in English and maximum group size per booking is 6.
Do not make multiple bookings for a larger group and if you want to bring extra people to the tour then you need to ask before the tour! Don't just bring people and expect they can join. Please have some respect for us guides and the group sizes.
It is essential that you download the Guruwalk app as this is where I will send you important updates about any changes to the tour.
During our tour, we will talk about both the light and dark pages of German history. We will learn about the history of Bavaria from the Roman beginnings of the city, through 700 years during which it was ruled by one powerful family, the Wittelsbachs, to the unification of Germany by Bismarck in the 19th century. We will see the places where Nazism was born, but also those where Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI, worked while still an archbishop. We will also see, perhaps the most disappointing attraction of the city – a show of knightly figure fights in the city’s carillon.
Take a walk with us and get to know a city that combines like no other seemingly contradictory fields: history and motoring, art and technology, entrepreneurship, and a specific lifestyle of Munich people, which is a mixture of self-confidence, freedom, and cheerfulness. Perhaps all these contradictions are seamlessly united by what is most important to Munich people… beer!

Hey, I’m Philipp – your creative city guide for Munich!
Come with us on an urban discovery tour beyond the beaten tourist track – right into Munich's wildest mix of street art, architecture and subcultural flair.
We explore:
🎨 Bahnwärter Thiel – Munich’s coolest cultural area with graffiti, containers, trains and lots of creativity.
🚢 Alte Utting – a decommissioned ship that now hovers above the tracks as a bar. Crazy? Absolutely.
🎭 Munich Volkstheater – architecture meets avant-garde: a real eye-catcher with character.
And the best part: you become part of the street art scene yourself!
At one of the coolest locations, "Rossi's Glück"—next to the legendary Beginners Wall, you'll grab your spray can—we'll use stencils to create our own postcards, inspired by the places we've discovered together. No matter the weather, we'll stay dry 😉
Don't worry, you don't need any prior knowledge—just a passion for color and imagination. In the spirit of the Blue Rider artist group—Kandinsky, Marc, and others—we celebrate abstraction, expression, and your very own style.
✨ What you can expect:
A mix of urban exploration, creativity, and plenty of inspiration. Not only will you experience Munich from a completely new perspective, you'll also take home your own work of art as a souvenir.
This experience is for everyone who wants to experience Munich beyond the castle and white sausage and get creative themselves.
Let's go – your place is waiting!
