Our afternoon tour visits the most characteristic part of Florence called Oltrarno .
To reach the Oltrarno from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella ,
(starting point of the tour), we will cross the elegant Via Tornabuoni.
Among the fashion and luxury stores of the most important Italian and international designers, you can admire some examples of buildings from the 19th century, when Florence was the capital of Italy for a few years.
We will stop at Palazzo Strozzi , one of the most beautiful Italian Renaissance palaces , built by the Strozzi family, one of the richest families in Florence, traditionally hostile to the Medici family.
Then we will find Piazza Santa Trinita , with its church full of history and we will cross the Ponte Santa Trinita , a Renaissance bridge with a wonderful view of the Ponte Vecchio.
Then we will arrive at the other part of Florence called Oltrarno ,
One of the most charming areas of the city. Here you'll find monuments, gardens, museums, and monumental buildings that are unique in the world, as well as historic workshops for artisans, goldsmiths, and restorers. This is where the most authentic Florentines still live.
We'll get lost in the most characteristic alleys, pass through Piazza della Passera and arrive at the trendy Santo Spirito district, with its bars, elegant restaurants and informal trattorias.
On the way back, we will arrive at Piazza Pitti , where you can see the monumental Palazzo Pitti , a fortified building on a small hill that was the last residence of the Medici family and today houses five museums , including the Palatine Gallery.
The tour ends near the Ponte Vecchio . At this point, you can decide whether to cross the bridge and head toward Piazza della Signoria or return to the lively nightlife of the Oltrarno.
With this tour I offer you the possibility of knowing Florence through the eyes of a Florentine. The tour begins in San Lorenxo square. We will also pass through less touristy and more authentic streets, to reach the heart of the city: the Cathedral and Cupola, where I will tell you several anecdotes about the Churches and the Square. We will also visit other wonders of the city including the Municipal Palace and Old Bridge. It will be a tour that will mix the typical with the hidden, and will allow you to discover the real Florence.
Our Florentine and authorized guides will show you the beauties of Florence along a route that starts from Piazza Santa Maria Novella where the tour begins in the alleys of the historic center and takes us to Piazza Santa Croce where the tour ends.
During the tour we can admire from the outside all the main places of interest of Florence.
Piazza Duomo with the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's Bell Tower, the magnificent Baptistery and the beautiful Brunelleschi's Dome.
Piazza della Signoria with the beautiful Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi . The Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio .
The tour ends in the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce in front of the magnificent basilica that you must visit at the end of the tour!
Our Florentine and authorized guides will tell you the history and the characters who shaped them in the past, from the Medici to Dante , from Michelangelo to Brunelleschi and the artists of the Renaissance , and they will tell you stories, anecdotes and mysteries , which you will not find in any book!
We will also accompany you in the present with precious gastronomic advice , on where to drink and eat even a pizza or a good ice cream and on shopping to buy local crafts in places that only Florentines know.
