We’ll also stop outside some of the most iconic historical landmarks of Fes, such as the world’s oldest university, Al Quaraouiyine (from outside), the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss(from outside), Chouara leather Tannery, Al-Attarine Madrasa (from outside), Place Seffarine, Fabrics Dyers square, Kifah kissariya, Al Attarine Street.

The tour will end at the main road near Mederssa Attarine, leading to the Blue Gate or the post office via Talaa Kbira/Talaa Sghira.

-The Oldest Library in Morocco: We will see it from the outside, as it requires special permission to enter.  

-Dyers' Market: Where old clothes, wool, and plant-based silk are still dyed using traditional methods.

-Moulay Idriss II Shrine: The founder of Fez.  

-Visit to the oldest hospital (Maristan Sidi Fradj), a multi-disciplinary center, known especially for using music therapy to treat mental health conditions.

🛍️ Please note that the tour includes access to private spaces, such as the tanneries. Berber pharmacy, hammam... During the visit, some vendors may approach you to offer their products, but there is no obligation to purchase anything. This is not a shopping tour.

 This visit is an excellent way to discover the narrowest streets, the history, the art and especially to taste the gastronomy of the city which is placed 2nd in the world!!

During this tour, we wanted to discover together famous historical places in Fez such as:

1- Bab Boujloud; The ancient gate of Bab Bou Jeloud was a simple and modest gate, possibly dating back to the 12th century.

2- Water Clock [Dar Magana]

3- Bou Nania Madrasa The largest madrasa in the city, the Bou Inania Madrasa, is a theological institute founded by Sultan Abu Hassan Marini (1331-1351) of the Marinid dynasty.

4- The oldest tannery of Sidi Moussa dates back to the early 12th century.

5- Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts in Fez from the outside or with entry

6- Islamic School Madrasa Attarine

7- Al-Karaouine (or Al Quaraouiyine) is the oldest mosque – center – school – university that exists and operates continuously in the world!

I'm Youssef, your tour guide. We'll give you a warm welcome to Morocco's largest city. We'll show you the city's alleyways and narrow streets, ensuring you gain a wealth of knowledge about Moroccan culture and crafts. I speak English, which is crucial for conveying information to my guests fluently and easily. Fez is a mysterious and fascinating city with many hidden secrets, and I'm passionate about sharing these secrets and events with my guests. I know Fez's history, traditions, and culture, but I've also designed a tour where my guests will actively participate by sharing these values ​​with the locals—something they couldn't do on their own. I lead tourists through narrow, winding alleyways that don't appear on GPS or maps. On this tour, you'll see historical monuments and Moroccan crafts, providing you with valuable insights.

I will provide an insight into the history of the city of Fes, which was founded in 808 (9th century) and was the first capital of Morocco under the Idrissid Dynasty, the Almoravid Dynasty, the Almohad Dynasty and the Merinid Dynasty.
As I walk around the city I will tell details about everything interesting. While visiting the monuments I will explain you the art decoration from history etc. Fes is really rich in history and monuments and handicrafts like the Blue Gate.
The 14th-century Attarine School , the world's first Islamic university founded by a woman , the 14th-century leather tannery, the founder's mausoleum, etc.
As you walk through the souk , I will explain to you about Moroccan gastronomy and various delicious tagines (pastilla, chicken with lemon, meat with prunes and almonds, as well as various pastries and sweets).
I will try to share with you my 30 years of experience in discovering this 9th century world heritage site.

We'll start our tour at the BAB MADINA hotel, one of the main entrances to the old medina. Our adventure begins in Fez el-Bali, the largest pedestrianised urban area in the world. We'll explore narrow streets full of life, colour and tradition, from historic sites such as the Nejjarine Museum, Al Attarine Madrasa and Al Quaraouiyine Mosque, to bustling souks such as the Henna Souk and Al Attarine Street.

You can admire monuments such as the tanneries, the Andalusian mosque and the traditional Berber carpet shops, as well as enjoying the tranquil charm of places such as Place Seffarine, Talaa Kebira and the gardens of Jnan Sbil. Along the way, I'll share local anecdotes, historical information and practical tips on Moroccan life and culture.

📍Additional costs: Some optional monuments (such as museums and madrasas) may have a small entrance fee of around €2 per person. The guide will give you the option of entering and paying, or enjoying the explanation from the outside, whichever you prefer.

At the end of our tour, we will return to the same meeting point, offering you guidance and comfort.

💡I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and carrying water, especially in hot weather.
