With this tour we are going to help you discover an area of the city of Girona that no one else has visited Free tours in Girona: The upper part of the city and its walls!
We begin this fantastic walk from Plaça Sant Feliu, our starting point at the indicated time.
First, we will enter the old town to visit the monastery of San Pedro de Galligans , an ancient Benedictine abbey that is a jewel of Catalan Romanesque architecture . We will cross the Galligans River to discover the Arab Baths , the prelude to the Archaeological Walk , where we will find beautiful terraced gardens that extend over the Carolingian wall .
We will continue to the Gironella Tower , where we will access the upper part of the murals. Once again, we will travel for a while and enjoy privileged views of the city .
To continue we will look at the mural and we will look at the German Barracks and the French Gardens , where the Charlemagne Tower is located, the only one that stood at the foot of the Girona Cathedral when it was Romanesque.
In addition, the free tour will take us to the convent of Sant Domenec and the Las Águilas building , which was the first headquarters of the University of Girona . To finish, we will go down the Pujada de Sant Domenec to reach the Plaça de l'Oli and the Rambla de la Llibertat , the heart of the old city where we will end our tour.
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at the central Plaça de Sant Feliu, right by the picturesque Onyar River, to begin this fascinating free tour through the mysteries and legends of Girona.
Our first stop will be the famous Lioness’s Bottom, a quirky sculpture that hides a story as unusual as it is amusing. We’ll then continue to some of the city’s most emblematic landmarks, such as Sant Narcís’ House and Plaça dels Jurats. Do they also conceal their own mysteries? We’ll find out soon enough!
Next, we’ll walk past the Arab Baths of Girona, where we’ll uncover the most enigmatic tales surrounding this ancient site. From there, we’ll head to the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria, before taking Carrer de Sant Llorenç to enter El Call, the city’s former Jewish Quarter — one of the best-preserved in Europe.
Among narrow streets filled with history, we’ll reveal new legends as we pass by Lance Armstrong’s House and the iconic Pujada de Sant Domènec. We’ll then stroll along the lively Rambla de la Llibertat to reach the photogenic Pont de les Peixateries Velles, designed by none other than Gustave Eiffel.
To wrap up our journey, we’ll admire the colorful houses along the Onyar River and end this captivating hour-and-a-half walking tour at the elegant Plaça de la Independència.

What does the free tour consist of?
Have you just arrived in Girona and want to discover its main attractions? We'll meet at the scheduled time in the city center to begin this free tour, designed to reveal the city's best-kept secrets.
We'll meet in Sant Feliu Square, where we'll see the legendary Basilica, a very special monument, and learn some very unique stories. Then, we'll go to the house of Sant Narcis, where we'll learn some of the legends surrounding this incredible figure. We'll then visit Jurats Square and learn some of its stories. Later, we'll pass by the Arab baths and head to the Sobreportes gate. Afterward, we'll head to the façade of Santa Maria Cathedral, a setting that fans of the Game of Thrones series will immediately recognize.
We'll continue through the Jewish Quarter, delighting in taking photos of the city's two most beautiful streets; truly beautiful! Later, we'll walk along La Rambla and cross the Eiffel Bridge, where we'll take a photo of Girona's skyline, with the river and colorful houses. Finally, we'll conclude the tour at Plaza de la Independencia, after a walk lasting approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.

My tour takes you through the Historic Center of Girona. On our journey through the medieval streets you will step back in time.
Discover the history of the ancient sites and through stories of old, meet characters of myth and legend.
Some of the historic sites were used as filming locations for the Game of Thrones series.
This is an 'Easy Walking Tour', however many of the streets in the old town are cobbled and there are lots of steps.The old town is very compact and covers a small area, so we have time to visit many of the important sites, walking at a relaxed pace and stopping to take photo's and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the City.
We will not go into any of the buildings. Entry to the Cathedral, Arabic baths and museums is ticketed, so you may wish to return to those places to visit the interiors.
The duration of my tour is approximately 2 hours. Some of the places we will visit are: The Lioness of Girona • The Basilica of Sant Feliu • The Arabic Baths • The Cathedral • The Jewish Quarter • Medieval Streets of The Old Town • The Eiffel Bridge.
The tour ends in a beautiful square where you will find cafés and restaurants and a festive market selling artisan products.

We will discover some secret sculptures and their meaning, hidden maps, the smallest square in Europe ... Through narrow alleys we will enter the Jewish Quarter , which hides some secrets underground , and we will talk about the imposing Cathedral , full of unknowns and mysteries.
Little by little we will climb to the highest part of Barri Vell, with beautiful views. We will cross the wall and arrive at the Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants and walk through the Chinatown. Why was it called that? What happened? What do we find, there, today?
We will answer these and many more questions until we reach the final point of the tour: a strange statue with the figure of a Lioness. Without a doubt, the best-known legend of Girona and one of the symbols of the city.
