Jerez is world-renowned for its wines, horses, and flamenco, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
However, our city also has another less known but equally important historical and artistic heritage , part of which I invite you to discover. on a private and personalized tour, with a maximum of five people per visit: the great Andalusian medina of Šarīš (شريش) from the 8th to the 13th centuries , with winding, narrow streets among which were located more than twenty mosques, and which was repopulated by Christians and a hundred Jewish families from 1267.
We'll begin the tour by entering the old Muslim city through the space once occupied by one of the main gates to the medina: the Seville Gate, opposite the monumental cloister of the Santo Domingo Convent , with remains that could date back to Jerez's Andalusian period. From there, we'll explore the beautiful and, in some cases, mysterious alleyways that lead to the Jewish quarter and the six neighborhoods of the old town: San Marcos, San Juan, San Lucas, San Mateo, San Salvador, and San Dionisio.
Our tour will end at the Plaza del Arenal , a space that housed an enormous maqbara or cemetery from the Andalusian period, the largest of the two it had, and which we will reach through the beautiful Pescadería street , delimited by the wall and very close to the remains that are still preserved of the old Puerta del Real or del Marmolejo.
I'll be waiting for you!
