Things to Do in Gothenburg
[ ¿Problems with finding spot or you're a big group and you want to do the tour another day? Write to us! ]
Discover Gothenburg like never before on this free walking tour of the city's most iconic and picturesque spots.
From the historic docks to the most charming neighborhoods, we will tell you stories of kings, merchants, and artists who shaped the city, and explore how Sweden became the country we know today: its political, economic, and social history that shaped its culture and cities. This tour is perfect for those who want to have a first approach to Gothenburg and a relaxed walk through the heart of Gothenburg. Our idea is for it to be a close tour, with historical facts, but also a casual conversation where we exchange questions and share our personal experience living in Gothenburg.
We start at Stenpiren, with the Delawaremonumentet; continue to Kronhuset, Gustaf Adolfs Torg, central square; Stora Teatern/Avenyn; Saluhallen, Systembolaget, University of Gothenburg, Hagakyrkan, Haga District, and end at Järntorget, history of trade and modern life.
If you want to leave us tips, please bring your cash or Swish (if you reside in Sweden).
We look forward to seeing you!
Majorna is certainly Gothenburg's most intriguing neighborhood, older than the city it selph with historic architecture and an unmatched atmosphere. It is here that some of the citiy's most important historical events took place and bloodiest battles were fought. At the same time, it has always been the home of the working class of Gothenburg.
Here you can get to know the "real" Gothenburg, trure booth historically as well as prescent. Like no other neighberhood in the city, Majorna thrives with life and community.
You connect with the spirit of Majorna learn about the faith of the men and women that built their shacks on the hillsides along the muddy roads of the city. The dockworkers, longshoremen, and sailors. The soldiers, the prostitutes. and the drunks. We make a slightly shorter tour during winter, with six stops along the way. Instead we go inside some of the most unique places in the city and get a bit warmer as well 🙂
Former radio journalist Sebastian is a third generation "Majbo" and will tell you an exciting story about a place he loves.
PLEASE NOTE! This tour is held in English only and using translation aps may not work perfectly as I talk while walking and also because of noise from the city. And! Dont forget to bring your very best walking shoes!
We'll explore Gothenburg's main attractions. We'll cover a bit of the city's history, culture, and daily life, but above all, we'll explore what distinguishes Gothenburg from the rest of Sweden.
We'll begin the tour in Gustav Adolf Square, where we'll talk about Vikings and kings. We'll see important statues and churches, discuss modern Scandinavian society, and stop by two different food markets where we'll discuss Sweden's main celebrations. Finally, we'll end the tour in the Haga neighborhood, one of the city's most charming.
