From there, you move away from the main streams, into hidden alleys and quiet courtyards, where Venice becomes quieter and begins to whisper its stories. On the way towards San Marco, a true gem awaits: the Scala Contarini del Bovolo – a unique Renaissance spiral staircase, surprising, photogenic, and a perfect example of how Venice often hides its treasures in plain sight.
Then you reach the heart of the city: Piazza San Marco. Here they all stand – the majestic Basilica, the Campanile, the famous façade of the Clock Tower, and the Doge's Palace (from the outside). And just a short walk away: the Ponte dei Sospiri, the legendary Bridge of Sighs, which connects the Doge's Palace with the old prisons. Iniziare da Campo SS Apostoli è un'ottima introduzione alla città e coprirà la storia di Venezia, la costruzione unica della città, l'orientamento a Venezia e i suoi principali luoghi d'interesse, storie su alcuni famosi veneziani, alcuni edifici straordinari, consigli su cibo e bevande, le origini delle maschere veneziane e altri argomenti. Questo tour coprirà la parte orientale del distretto di Cannaregio e la parte occidentale del distretto di Castello.
