Come with me to explore the wonders of Sarajevo and its 500+ years of history.
The Jerusalem of Europe is much more than the capital of an unknown Balkanic country. It is the place where East meets West, where Christianity meets Islam, and where capitalism meets socialism.
Our tour starts in the bustling streets of the Old town with the beautiful Sebilj fountain, from where we walk through the main street on which the stunning places of worship reside. We visit the spot of the infamous 1914 assassination that sparked I World War and walk alongside the old bridges over Miljacka to the breathtaking City Hall and House of Spite. The last stop is the Yellow Fortress, the most beautiful viewpoint of Sarajevo where you see an astonishing panorama of the whole city.
One of the best ways to acquaint yourselves with the new place is with the help of a licensed guide.
Important locations and monuments visited:
- The most famous spot - Franz Ferdinand Assassination - Latin bridge
- City Hall - the most extravagant building constructed in Sarajevo
- Baščaršija - Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical, cultural center of the city
- Sebilj - Ottoman-style wooden fountain
- Emperor’s Mosque - Sarajevo’s oldest mosque
- Jewish Museum - situated in the oldest synagogue in BiH
- Gazi Husrev Bey’s Mosque - the first mosque in the world with electricity
- Sacred Heart Cathedral - the largest cathedral in BiH
- Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos - largest Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevo
- Sarajevo meeting of cultures - the spot where two dominant cultures that once shaped Sarajevo merge.
Come on and book now!
Start by taking the bus from the center of the city to the starting point village called Nahorevo. Nahorevo is a village located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 9 kilometers north of Sarajevo.
Begin our hike from the last bus stop, following the road through the village. The road is about 4 kilometers long and takes about 2 hours to complete, depending on our pace.
Before we switch to the forest trail we gonna take a quick stop at the famous hiker station 'Hotel Promaja' and meet the best host 'Dragan'
The Forest trail is about 4 kilometers long and takes about one and a half hours to get to the waterfall
Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we make our way to the waterfall. The trail winds through the forest and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
When we reach the waterfall, we'll take a moment to appreciate its beauty. Skakavac is one of the tallest waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a total height of about 98 meters.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb up to the top of the waterfall for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Just be careful, as the trail can be slippery and steep in places.
After we've spent some time at the waterfall, retrace our steps back to the trailhead to get back to Dragan.
Dragan is a great host and he has stories to tell. Best local dishes, his house-made 'rakija', and for sure local beer. You should have 10 euros in cash for a meal and a couple of drinks. After lunch, we are heading down the road for 40 minutes to complete our tour.
Tour takes approx 4 hours, it's all up to you we can stay longer if you want.
Hopefully, we can make a friendly fun adventure.
