Join me on a walk through beautiful Zadar and get to know its history over 3000 years old!
We start the tour at 5 Well Square, which the city resisted
with water until recent history.
Then I will take you to the first public park in Croatia,
Jelena Madijevka Park, from where you will have a view
of the monumental Land Gate, a unique specimen on the east
coast of the Adriatic that is recognized by UNESCO and placed
under its protection along the City Walls of the 16th and
17th centuries.
Nearby is the church of St. Simon, one of the patrons of
Zadar, and his body is kept in a gilded chest of 280 kg of
silver and gold.
We will walk through the main city artery - Kalelarga, which
will take us to the City Square where the people of Zadar
have been meeting since the 12th century.
After that we'll stop at the ancient Forum and return more than
2000 years to the oldest part of the city - to the so called
"open-air museum".
At this place there is a large pre-Romanesque monument from
the 9th century - the church of St. Donat, which is made
entirely of the remains of ancient stone from a Roman temple.
Near the Forum is the Zadar Cathedral, the largest on the
Eastern Adriatic coast from the 12th century, dedicated to
St. Anastasia.
We will end the tour with the latest and unique installations
of Zadar - Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun.

Our tour is called Free walking tour through the historic Zadar.
My intention is to show You all the changes that happened in our city.
We will start our walking on the Five Wells Square, with the story from the begining of the city of Zadar. You will get the informations about the city that You cannot read on Internet. On the example of Land gate and Zadar fortifications I will explain You why Zadar as a city was so important.
After that we proceed with the walking on Široka ulica so called Kalelarga, the oldest street in the town, talking about the changes through the history. We are coming on roman Forum to meet the antique Zadar. The next step is the famous cathedral of Saint Anastasia and after that we are meeting the new Zadar with the Sea Organ and Greetings to the Sun where our tour is finished.
