We take our time as the evening twilight sets in a slow pace - keeping a good lookout at both sides. Moose encounters must be treated with respect and caution, so at any spotting we stop and assess this magnificent animals behaviour. Signs may indicate a calm retreat or an opportunity to stay and watch.

This unique tour will take you from the city centre and through the local living areas before leaving the asphalt on to gravel roads and easy paths until we reach the bottom of the climb up to peak Keiservarden. From there it is a 4,5 km ride 360 metres uphill - but no worries, your eBike will help keeping the heart rate down, although a little self effort and a light sweat is necessary. At the top you get a fantastic view of 360 degrees - and a prime location for watching the midnight sun. Downhill is easy and as exiting as you preferr - just keep your speed at a comfortable level and don't scare those on a hike up. While riding we communicate with Walkie Talkies - for guiding and heads-up situations.

We will take you on a guided hike to have a view over the city and its surroundings. It is a hike that takes you up to a viewpoint known as “Appelsinhaugen” (“Orange Hill”). As we hike up to about 170 m.a.s. we will tell you the story of this trail and the city. When we are coming to the top of the “roof” of Mo I Rana, you will have an awesome view over the city. The hike takes about 3 hours both ways, and we can either pick you up at your hotel, or we can meet at the starting point. Map will be provided for you at your hotel. We make coffee on a fire, and you can have your lunch up there as well. We start from Fageråsen near the skijump hill, Mo I Rana at 10 a.m. and return about 13.

At the top of Leirskardalen, asphalt slides over into gravel and we find parking at Leirbotnet. The trip continues slowly uphill before a final ascent carries us forward over a lunar landscape. After a five kilometer walk from the parking lot, we see the plateau where Rabothytta stands steady and forms an adventurous sight with the fog thickly hanging over it. The building slides into the landscape with its diagonal shapes and earth tones. Majestically, it lies there waiting for you as you approach 1,200 meters above sea level. Rabothytta is located at the end of Okstindbreen, and the blue ice forms a fantastic contrast to the color of the cabin. … And the view; it simply takes your breath away! Combine 2 highlights of the Bodø region on this half day tour. Glide silently through majestic Nordfjord and step into history with a visit to Kjerringøy Handelssted. As we depart from Bodø we sail along the rugged coastline around Bodø. On the way we can admire the stunning mountain on Landegode and the picturesque narrow beach of Hovsundet. We sail into Mistfjorden, which at times does its name justice. Towards the end of the fjord it splits into two and we enter the narrow arm of Nordfjorden where mountains up to 800 meters rise high above us on either side. This 19th century trading post has several well preserved buildings, including several beautiful old wooden boats. From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great. The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day. We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights. We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am). Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are. We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.

We take you on a guided tour to one of the highest points in Mo I Rana to have a view of the city and its surroundings. It is a hike that takes you up an old path, to a vantage point known as the top of "Tjuvtrappa". When we go up to around 400 masl. we will tell you the story of this trail. When we reach the top of the "roof" of Mo I Rana, you will have a wonderful view of the city. The trip takes about 4 hours both ways, and we can either pick you up at your hotel, or we can meet at the starting point. Maps will be available for you at your hotel. We can make coffee by the fire (if it is not to dry), and you can have lunch up there too.

We at ExploRana love all outdoor activities, also snowshoe-hikes. We would just love to take you out and let you experience this easy way to hike through the loose and deep snow! We make sure to have enough snowshoes to go around, and if you don’t have warm clothes, let us know and we sure will help you with that too. An unforgettable journey With towering mountains, dramatic waterfalls and fantastic views of the fjord, this journey goes through a beautiful and wild arctic landscape. The train makes several stops along the way to ensure you get the most out of the trip, and with the help of the "Voice of Norway" app you can listen to the history of the places you pass on the journey. Ofotbanen The construction of the Ofotbanen started at the end of the 19th century and stretched a couple of years into the next century. The railway was built to ensure access to an ice-free export port for the huge iron ore deposits from northern Sweden. Itinerant workers, so-called "rallers" sought their fortune in what was referred to as Europe's "Klondyke", and at most over 5,000 people were involved in the construction of the track.

Andøya is Norway's hidden spot for fantastic wildlife. Join our summer whale/wildlife RIB-boat excursion to explore the canyon of Bleik and its surroundings. The canyon is home to abundant marine wildlife, including the magnificent sperm whales. You will also have a chance to encounter other marine mammals, such as pilot whales, orcas, minke, and occasionally Risso's dolphins and fin whales. All these animals frequent the area in search for food (different fish species), which also attract extraordinary bird and other wildlife. In searching for whales, we will most likely encounter different birds (puffins, eagles, gannets, etc.) while we keep our eyes open for Harbor seals. Join our 3,5 hours RIB boat excursion with a maximum of 12 guests to explore the wonders of Bleik Canyon. During the tour, your guide will be onboard to give you information about all the wildlife we encounter, and take photos (as memories) to take them home with you after the trip.

Snowshoeing is a good way to enjoy the snow if you are not steady on a pair of skis. The snowshoe trip is fully guided, and we’ll provide you with the necessary gear. To maximise your chances of having a great experience, it’s important to dress warmly.   Daytime Snowshoe Trips. This is a great way to enjoy the winter landscape and the Arctic wilderness near Bodø. We’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the nature, and on a guided tour you can immerse yourself in new knowledge about the Norwegian nature. Arctic Night Snowshoe Hike. A bit adventurous? Then consider a mysterious evening snowshoe hike, which could be your chance to see the Northern Lights. You’ll then get a feeling of a winter night above the Arctic Circle. During the hike, we’ll stop by for a break, make an open fire and enjoy a hot drink.

Moderatly challenging eBike ride leaving the asphalt behind in exchange for a spectacular nature experience. Gravel roads and narrow paths lead you through the forest and up to a mountain ridge with a stunning view from sea to summit.

Hamarøyskaftet is one of the most characteristic mountains in Northern Norway. It’s less well known than Stetind and the summit is just 613 metres above sea level. Some alpine climbing is needed to reach the summit. Join us on a guided climb, and be surprised by how much fun this trip is! Hamarøyskaftet is not a very difficult climb, but you will still need ropes and guiding to reach the top. You must be comfortable with some airy climbing. Between the alpine sections, you will find large ledges to rest on while you enjoy the amazing views. When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with views of the Vestfjord and Lofotveggen (The Lofoten Wall) – the line of mountains on the nearby Lofoten Islands. No rush. We allow plenty of time on this excursion, so we don’t have to rush.

Åselidalen  Valley is a beautiful valley carved out by glaciers some hundreds of thousands of years ago. Crystal clear mountain lakes and waterfalls surrounded by peaks is what you’ll find today. Starting from Bodø, the valley is a perfect place for a moderate hiking day trip in Northern Norway. Bodø is known for excellent hiking options, its diverse landscape and the easy access to the mountainsides. If you’re a hiking enthusiast, you should add the area to your bucket list. The Hidden Valley: The Børvasstindane mountain range contains the signature mountains of Bodø. Åselidalen – “The Hidden Valley” – cuts into the mountains between the mountain ridges Åselitindan and Falkflågtindan. Peaks: The valley is surrounded by jagged peaks, all over 1,000 metres above sea level. Two of them, PerKalsa and Børtind, are favourites among the locals.
